Keep the kids busy and get your own creative juices flowing by busting out the glue stick and coloured card and making a masterpiece! We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Kate Lilley from minieco to show you step by step how to create this wonderful birds of play mask.
All you’ll need to get started is:
- Download these two templates: Birds Of Play Mask & Birds of Play Feathers
- Blue Card
- Paper – mixed colours
- Silver Ribbon
- Glue stick
- Sharp point for scoring (compass/needle)
- Hole punch
Print out the mask onto a piece of A4 Steel Blue card. Set your printing preferences to 'photo' and 'grayscale'. Cut along the outside edge of the mask and nose and carefully cut out the eye holes.
Punch out a hole on either side to thread your ribbon through.
Place the beak on a work surface and score along the dotted lines using a ruler and pointy object (such as compass or needle). Fold along each of these lines and glue the beak into place.
Print out the feathers onto sheets of different coloured paper. Set your printing preferences to 'photo' and 'grayscale'. Cut out the big feathers.
Place the large feathers on a work surface and score along the mid-line using a ruler and pointy object (such as compass or needle). Fold in half.
Cut out the small feathers.
Thread the silver ribbon through the holes and glue the small feathers on. Begin with the bottom feathers, overlapping as you go. When all the small feathers are glued into place trim any pieces that are sticking out over the edge of the mask.
Glue the large feathers into place.
And ta-da! Your mask is complete, well done! Feel free to play around with different colours. We love the colour combo on this one…
