Paperchase X Orchid
We’ve been working with Orchid for 13 years and in that time, over £85,000 has been raised from the sale of our Charity Cards. These donations are really important and the money raised is often spent on a wide range of things! Lucy, from Orchid, told us a bit more about what those things are…
Q: Hey Lucy, can you tell us about what the money donated will be used for this year?
A: An increasing number of men in the UK are being diagnosed with a male specific cancer every year. In addition to this, Prostate cancer is predicted to be the most common cancer in the UK by 2030. This means the work we do is more important than ever. We want to focus on offering a personal service to the men and families who access our support services. The quicker and easier it is for men to access quality independent information will benefit their cancer experience.
Q: Do you know what’s been done with the donations in previous years?
A:The support from Paperchase has ensured we can meet the commitments and ambitions set out in our strategy. It’s already enabled us to make excellent progress, we’ve been able to extend our community Roadshow programme. There’s been more training for health professionals as well as being able to deliver a service for young people at risk of testicular cancer. We’ve also been able to appoint dedicated Nurse Specialists. However, we are receiving increased demands for our services. Because of your generous support, we will enable us to meet these demands alongside ensuring we can achieve the long-term ambitions in our strategy.
Q: What's the best bit about working for Orchid?
A: Definitely meeting and speaking to the families we help. It’s lovely to see that our support makes a real difference to their lives.
