What To Write In a Mother’s Day Card

Mums. They're pretty great. They'll find things that you can't, hold you when you're feeling down, and give you the best advice in the world. Our mums deserve the whole world. The only thing is, we can't quite afford the whole world yet, so until we can, we'll have to stick to a perfectly picked Mother's Day card.

No matter who you're celebrating this Mother's Day, whether it's your birth mum, step-mum, dad, grandmother, aunty or sister. it's important to let them know how much they mean to you. To help you do just that, we've compiled a handy list of phrases and ideas for writing Mother's Day messages.

Mother's Day messages for your mum

She taught you to walk, talk, twist and shout. She deserves all the thanks in the world. Write from the heart: thank her, include personal stories and jokes, make it a real tear-jerker. However, if your relationship with your mum is a little complicated, don't feel obliged to make your message sappier than you feel. Be warm. Be sincere. Focus on the positives and wish her a wonderful day.

  • Happy Mother's Day from your absolute favourite financial burden!
  • Thank you for picking me up when I fall down, hugging me when I feel alone, and being there for me always. I love you a lot.
  • You got through my teenage years and for that alone, you deserve all the love in the world.
  • Mum, I love you almost as much as you love a glass of prosecco on a Friday night.
  • Thank you for pretending to enjoy my music taste. Happy Mother's Day.
  • You've always been there for me and I'll always be there for you.
  • Everyone says they have the best mum in the world but they're all wrong. It's me! I have the best mum in the world.

Mother's Day messages for your grandma

No matter what you call her (grandma, nana, granny or nan) she's probably always been there for you. She's always on your side, and she more than likely makes the best apple pie you've ever tasted. If it wasn't for her, you wouldn't be here. Thank her and let her know how appreciated she is.

  • You'll always have a special place in my heart; thank you for making me the person I am today.
  • If I'm even half the woman you are when I'm older then I'll know I've done well.
  • I'm so blessed to be your grandchild. Thank you for being someone I can look up to.
  • You're the best listener, best friend, and best grandma I could ever ask for.
  • On Mother's Day, I hope you know how cherished and loved you are by your children and grandchildren.
  • You don't just give love, you are love and I'm so grateful for you.

Mother's Day messages for someone who is like a mother

Whether somebody else raised you, or you have someone who has always been just like a mother to you, it's nice to let them know that their love is recognised.

  • Being a great parent requires patience, kindness, and a whole lot of love - it does not require DNA.
  • You're my dad and my mum all in one and I've never wanted anything else. Thank you.
  • There's nobody else like you. I'm so blessed that you've always been there to look after me.
  • Without your influence and love, I wouldn't be half the person I am today.
  • I wanted to recognise you on Mother's Day because you've been such a positive and loving influence in my life. I'll forever be grateful for your kindness.
  • You don't have to be a woman, family, or my mum to be celebrated today. Thank you for raising me like I was your own.

Mother's Day messages for a partner or wife

Hearing from your other half on Mother's Day is a great way to feel loved and appreciated for all the hard work you do as a mum. Sending your significant other a message, whether they're a new mum, step-mum or just a loved and loving mother, is something everyone should do.

  • Seeing you become a strong, hard-working and patient mum for our child has made me fall in love with you even more than I thought possible.
  • I love our family and I love you.
  • You truly are the most wonderful mother. Seeing what a strong and loving woman you are fills me with so much pride.
  • We've got a whole lifetime of adventures awaiting us and I'm so excited we get to do it all as parents. You make this family whole and I'll never be able to thank you enough.
  • For a step-mum: Thank you for being such a wonderful mother to my [son/daughter]. They love you and we're both so grateful for the love and adoration you bring to our home.
  • Until our little one learns how to write, I'll take the task of telling you what an amazing mother you are. It's an absolute pleasure to tell you. We love you so much.
  • Happy Mother-to-be Day! I'm so excited for our next adventure.
  • Get ready to join the mum club! Here's to the first of many wonderful Mother's Days together.

Mother's Day is for everyone. Everyone who has ever raised a child or brought a child into this world. Make sure to pamper all of the mums out there and shower them with love and appreciation! We all know they deserve it.
