With effect from July 2007, the UK’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations requires that all producers of electrical equipment actively assist in delivery of a UK wide WEEE collection infrastructure and encourage the participation of consumers in recycling electronic equipment.
In order to our assist customers in remembering that electronic goods can be recycled and therefore should not be placed in the general waste, all Paperchase products of this type are now marked with a crossed out wheelie bin symbol.
As part of our continued commitment to recycling and protecting the environment, Paperchase has joined the Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS). The DTS is a Government initiative designed to minimise the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) to landfill and to achieve high levels of collection of WEEE for environmentally sound disposal.
By joining the scheme Paperchase is contributing to the establishment of a network of Designated Collection Facilities (DCF) where consumers may dispose of their WEEE free of charge for recycling and treatment in an ecologically sound manner. Because of our membership of the DTS scheme Paperchase will not accept returns of household WEEE instore and cannot accept WEEE returns for recycling, neither will we make arrangements for its collection.

The development of this new directive will help to ensure that electrical and electronic equipment will be treated and disposed of in an environmentally sound way, dramatically reducing the amounts of electrical and electronic waste going to landfill.
What is BPA?
BPA is an industrial chemical.
What is BPA used for?
BPA is used as an ingredient to make a plastic called
Polycarbonate.
What is Polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate is a hard, clear plastic that is used to make CD’s,
sunglasses and food storage containers etc. BPA gives
Polycarbonate its exceptional toughness, optical clarity, heat
and electrical resistance.
Are Paperchase drinking bottles made from
Polycarbonate?
NO. Paperchase does not use Polycarbonate. Instead, we use a
similar material called Copolyester.
Does Paperchase use BPA in its Copolyester drinking
bottles?
NO. Unlike Polycarbonate, Copolyester does not use BPA as an
ingredient. Therefore, our plastic drink bottles do not contain
BPA.
Are Paperchase drinking bottles tested to ensure they are
safe?
YES. Our food contact plastics are rigorously tested to ensure
they comply with strict European legislation on their safety.
If a product is stamped with the "resin identification code 7" does it mean that it contains BPA?
NO; nor is it a measure of the safety of a product. The number is called the “resin identification code” and is intended to facilitate sorting of materials for recycling. Resin identification code “7” is for “other” resins that are not defined by codes 1 through 6. A number of plastics can carry a code 7, including the Copolyester used on our products.
