Here at Paperchase, we realise that what we do can have an impact on the environment so we’re committed to sourcing products in the most sustainable way possible.
We have a rigorous sourcing policy across our entire supply base, and our ambition is to make sure our own-brand timber products are either certified under a sustainable forest management scheme, contain recycled content or carry eco credentials.
We work closely with our suppliers too. This is so they understand the values and importance behind our objectives, but if they don't share our commitment to the environment, we won't work with them. And we regularly review our processes to make sure we’re always improving and meeting our high standards.
As of February 2017, around 90% of our timber suppliers hold Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. The FSC is a global organisation that works to promote the practice of sustainable forestry worldwide. It sets standards for forest products and independently certifies that these standards have been met, before allowing their logo to feature on products that qualify.
The number of FSC-certified products in our ranges is growing fast, so when you see the FSC logo, you can be confident that buying it won’t mean harming the world’s forests.
And around 2% of our products are made from recycled fibre, which can also reduce overall pressure on natural forests and other important natural resources. Check out our core range of Kraft products - they all contain materials manufactured from recycled fibre.
Our timber sourcing policy also supports our due-diligence requirements in accordance with the European Union Timber Regulations. Effective since 2013, these regulations aim to address the global trade of illegally harvested timber.
