Our Company Culture

If you want to work in an exciting, engaging and fast-paced environment, surrounded by friendly and supportive teams, look no further.

At Paperchase, we’ll champion you to bring your unique best self to work – giving you the opportunity to challenge yourself in new and exciting ways. Here, you can be confident you’ll be accepted and loved for who you are, as we celebrate one another's differences and individual talents.

We are a fun and colourful company, with a passion for creativity and innovation at our hearts.

Our story started in the swinging sixties with two fresh-thinking and bold art and design students who created popping graphic prints and patterns and applied to stationary, wrap and cards. Several decades later, the creative spirit that inspired the start of Paperchase is still going strong at our Paperchase Studios.

The Bits that Make Us, Us

Our purpose is supported by our four brand values:

  • Be BOLD in our decision making to support our colleagues’ ambitions and our customers’ needs

  • Be PLAYFUL in our execution and never forget the positivity that defines us

  • Be FRESH THINKERS committed
    to constant improvement

  • Be KIND to our customers, our
colleagues and our environment on our journey

Life at Paperchase

Life doesn’t start and end at work, and everyone has their own way of doing things. Ensuring we all have a good work-life balance is key to our mission of spreading a little joy every day, which is why we nurture flexibility and autonomy, so you can do your work your way.

When it comes to office hours for our teams in the Support Office, we have a hybrid working model. Each week, you choose which two days you spend at our colourful Paperchase Studio in Farringdon, and on other days, you can work from home (or a coffee shop, or the zoo – it’s your call!).

For our colleagues within our retail stores, we offer a wide variety of contractual hours, that will enable you to find something to suit your individual lifestyle, helping you work around your personal life.

The Paperchase Community

As the makers and shapers of all-things celebration, connecting and collaborating with one another is what we love most.

From monthly socials arranged by our Entertainment Elves, and product design competitions to virtual team hang-outs and quarterly days of business and pleasure, we always find a way to live up to our value of being playful.

Our Diversity & Inclusion Partnership

As part of our aim is to spread a little joy every day, we have our Diversity and Inclusion Partnership made up but by both Support Office and Retail colleagues. We know that positivity comes by embracing and celebrating diversity and inclusion. Together we educate paperchasers to be:

  • Bold champions of diversity and inclusion regardless of characteristics such as age,
disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion and belief, gender identity and marriage and civil partnership.

  • Encourage playful celebration of our strength in each other’s unique best selves.

  • Empower fresh-thinking by embracing diversity and inclusion and attracting and developing talented people.

  • Value being kind throughout all aspects of our business, promoting creativity and education that enables us all to thrive.

What exactly does the partnership do?

The purpose of the partnership is to improve diversity and inclusivity for
colleagues and customers within all areas of Paperchase – from product and partnerships, charitable contributions, people and policies, and communication and governance. The vision is to empower everyone to use their voice to bring about positive change and to make Paperchase a force for good that reflects the people who work for and love the brand. We are so proud to see the commitment of our colleagues across the business who have formed the D&I Partnership –
growing month on month!

Sustainability

It's never been more important to look after our planet, and we are keen our Paperchaser’s support on our sustainable journey – we love hearing your great ideas that we can bring to life. We are committed to being kind to the environment and have made positive progress across our products and practices over the last few years.

Here's what we've achieved so far!

  • Keen to be green

We’re starting to reduce and offset our carbon footprint, including by working with more local suppliers. We’re also upping the feel-good factor of your favourite things by making more of our products and packaging recyclable.

  • Planet-friendly paper

Paper is precious to us and to the planet, which is why all – yes, all! – of our paper products are made from FSC-certified or sustainable sources. We also hug trees to make sure they know how much we appreciate them.

  • Less plastic is fantastic

We are parting ways with plastic wherever possible across our products, packaging and online deliveries. Our gift cards are now made from paper instead of single-use plastic.

  • Angela

    Multi site Manager

“I joined Paperchase in 2017 as Operations Manager of the then Glasgow Flagship store, managing all things "Back of House". Following a restructure, my role became Assistant Store Manager, which quickly progressed to Store Manager. This was an exciting time as I became much more customer facing and got the opportunity to lead a much bigger team.

In 2020, I was promoted to Dual Site Manager, taking on responsibility for our
Silverburn store, which was around the same time we closed the Flag and relocated to our new site on Buchanan Street. Following the opening of Braehead and Byres Road, so I am now a fully-fledged Multi Site Manager. As well as the day-to-day, I am a Mental Health First Aider and I also support the Studio team
with exciting projects - busy busy!!

I love making others happy. It’s a joy getting to know my colleagues on a personal level. I also have this uncanny ability to never forget a face... so, I love surprising a regular customer when I ask them about something we've
chatted about on a previous visit - I think it really makes them feel valued.

I love being part of the North Area....it's never a dull moment and there is always a colleague I can reach out to for support or a laugh''
